Enjoy the week off. Rest up because there's lots more learning to do before June. See you on the 28th!
This week we learned about Aesop's Fables. We talked about how a big, mean, loud lion could not be friends with a tiny, little, soft mouse. Boy were we surprised when we read the book and discovered that friends are friends no matter what their size!
We played a loud, soft game using rhythm sticks...it was fun to roar like a lion and bang the rhythm sticks loudly! In Kindergarten we went on a lion hunt using dice. As we rolled the dice we colored in the number and correct color of the mice and lions we saw on the safari. In pre-school we learned all about dinosaurs through music and hands on play. We counted dinosaurs and made triangle spikes on our dinosaurs made out of the letter D! Then we dug for bones and fossils in the moonsand pit.
This week in pre-school we learned about buttons and counting by reading a book about our favorite cat...Pete! We sorted buttons by shape and made our own re-telling button sticks. After the story we designed our own groovy buttons and "pinned" them on Pete.
We love Pete the Cat! We are learning about goldfish in Science so naturally we read about fish when we went to the Library. First we read a non-fiction book to learn about taking care of a pet fish and then we read a fiction book called "Memoirs of a Goldfish" by Devin Scillian. We learned about sequencing the characters by using props to re-tell the story. Then we made our own fish tanks and added the characters, in order, to the new tank. Ask me to tell you what happened in the story and why the goldfish got so frustrated and wanted to move out of his bowl!
