In kindergarten we learned about stories having a "beginning, middle, and end." Then we sequenced pictures from the book to help us re-tell the story. Finally, we became illustrators and made our own books about the lion the mouse. Ask me to re-tell this story using the books that we illustrated in Library class. You'll never guess how that little mouse helped that great big lion!
In pre-school, we took turns acting out the parts of the lion, the hunters, and the mouse. We pretended to catch the lion in a net and then made the mouse help the lion escape. In our art center we made finger puppets to take home to help us re-tell the story. We got to play with play-dough and practiced making the letter "L" and even gave the mouse a set of colorful ears!
