Blogging my way through another 180 days of Pre-School and Kindergarten Library Fun!
During the first quarter the entire kindergarten at Robertson Elementary worked together to write safety rules for our new playground. Each class worked with a specific piece of equipment and wrote rules so that we can all play safely together. We put together a book of playground rules for everyone to share.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This November we are thankful for all the new stories that we have read in Library class!
First, we helped Pete the Cat solve the mystery of the missing cupcakes in "Pete the Cat & the Missing Cupcakes" by James and Kimberly Dean. We examined clues and questioned characters until we found the suspect....Grumpy Toad! We helped Pete and Grumpy solve the problem by making new "cupcakes" for the party. Next, we learned about the four seasons of the year. We discussed the weather for each season and all the fun activities that you can do in winter, spring, summer, and fall. We read the silliest book about a tree that does not like the season of fall. "Fall is Not Easy" by Marty Kelley took us on a journey through a tree's life during all four seasons. Winter, spring, and summer were easy for the tree but when it is time for fall he has a difficult time "changing!" Ask me about some of the silly things the tree turned into! For activity time we designed our own silly trees just like the ones in the story. Finally, it was almost Thanksgiving Day so we had to help save our turkey friends! We read a story about a turkey who tries to disguise himself so that the farmer can't find him and "gobble" him up on Thanksgiving Day! "Run, Turkey, Run" by Diane Mayr was a funny fiction story about a turkey disguising himself as other barnyard animals. He finally finds the perfect disguise.....ask me what it is! We took turns dressing our turkey puppet up as different characters...Sponge Bob Turkey Pants, Turkey Mouse, Turkey Sheep, Turkey-saurus Rex, and Turkey Jaws. Have a great holiday friends! I am thankful to be able to share so many stories and activities with your children! |
