| Wow! I can't believe November is already here. This post included everything that we've done last week since we've been sooooooo busy learning and having fun that I forgot to post! So, first, in pre-k we learned all about spiders. We built a spider using recycled materials and learned that these arachnids (nope, they are not insects) have two body parts, eight legs, and as many as eight eyes! They use their spinneret to spin their silky webs to catch food. Ask me what spiders like to eat! Next, we sung a spider song and read "The Very Busy Spider" by Eric Carle. During center time some of us chose to make a spider picture using the number 8 as the body. We then added eight legs and eight eyes. Spiders are creepy, but they are really cool! At Kindergarten this week we had an assembly on Whole Body Listening. That's when we use our eyes, ears, quiet voice, and still body to help us listen and learn. We sang our Whole Body Listening song and watched a funny video from Sesame Street called "Biscotti Karate" where Cookie Monster was trying to learn how to listen with his whole body so he could earn cookies. We had a special visitor come in too! Cookie Monster made a special appearance in the Library and helped us practice Whole Body Listening. We made badges to help us remember to use our eyes, ears, quiet voices, and calm bodies so ask me to teach you how to listen with your whole body! On Halloween, we teamed up with the Art teacher to make masks! We used sparkles and glitter and counted out ten pieces of sequin to glue onto our mask. After we finished our projects we listened to a funny story about a dachshund (aka: hot dog) wearing a silly costume. "The Hallo-wiener" is a silly book by author Dav Pilkey.... ask me what the dog wore for Halloween! And check out the photo below to see what the Art teacher and Librarian dressed up as for their costume! I hope you had a fun week and learned a lot. We are now in Quarter 2 and we will be learning about fiction and non-fiction. We will also continue practicing making predictions and re-telling stories. --------------------------------------- Guau! |
