Below you will find some policies and procedures which will help establish our school library media program and help create a learning environment that ensures our Robertson Racers become effective users of ideas and information.
School Year 2011-2012 - Grade level: 5 (Please note: Robertson is no longer a Grade 5 school as of the 2012-2013 school year. We are now an early learning center with all Kindergarten classes. )
Library RulesIn our library we have three simple rules:
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Borrowing Books Every patron is responsible for the items they check out. Please assist your child with finding a safe place to store their library books at home.
All students will have the privilege of taking out two library books each week. Library books are due each week on the day of library class. If a student forgets their book then they will not be able to borrow another book until the overdue book is returned. Students may renew their book one time (if there's not a waiting list for the book), but only if they bring the book to class!
Fines There is no charge for overdue materials. We understand accidents do happen...however, lost or damaged items must be paid for as soon as possible. Everyone, students and teachers, are financially responsible for any lost or damaged materials checked out in their name. Patrons who have lost or damaged a book will not be allowed to borrow additional materials until their fine has been paid. Payment plans can be set up for students; please contact Ms. Mancini to set up a payment plan for lost book fines. Library grades will be affected if materials are not returned or paid for and end-of-year privileges will be lost.
Taking Care of Library Books All students have learned how to care for their library books. Click here to watch a video clip to help you remember how to care for your borrowed books.
Class Visits Each class visits the library once a week for 50 minutes for a library lesson and book check out. Students may visit the library without their class on an individual basis during open library times only. Please do not send students to the library during another classroom's Library period.
Circulation Policy
Fifth Grade - 1 item each week during the 1st Quarter. At the beginning of the 2nd Quarter students who have returned their books every week will have the opportunity to earn the privilege of borrowing two items each week.
Faculty/Staff - 10 items at a time for up to three weeks. Teachers needing books for class projects, etc. should submit a request to the Librarian at least one day prior to the date items are needed. Thank you for your consideration and patience!
Library Classroom Use
Everyone is welcome to use the Library when there isn't a Library class scheduled. Please check with the office and the Librarian to avoid any conflicts. Thank you for your cooperation and consideration.
Please return all Library materials, equipment, and furniture to the condition and arrangement you found it in. Thank you in advance for your assistance in keeping the library neat and clean for everyone!
Please note that computers in the Library are reserved for daily scheduled classes. Your class is welcome to use the desktops after Library classes have ended for the day.
