We read about a mummy who ate too much (There Was An Old Mummy Who Swallowed A Spider by Jennifer Ward) and them disguised ourselves with handmade masks (thank you Mrs. Thomson).
We had two assemblies: A Silly Willies Show with performer Jackson Gillman and a Magic Reading Show with Steve "the Magic Guy" Rudolph.
Our teachers turned into Minions for a day!
We visited the RISD Museum of Art and read a story about a dog who loved painting (Art Dog by Thacher Hurd) and then painted our own masterpieces.
We went on a leaf hunt and learned about the season of autumn. (We're Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger). We played a game using dice to find out how many leaves we found on a leaf hunt.
We read about a tree that loves winter, spring, and summer but isn't too crazy about fall. Ask me what happens in the book "Fall is Not Easy" by Marty Kelley. We designed our own trees using our imagination just like the illustrator did in the book.
Next week we'll be learning about Thanksgiving and how to keep a turkey safe near this holiday. (Turkey Trouble by Wendy Silvano)
Don't forget to sign up with your child's teacher for a meeting on Parent/Teacher Conference Night on Wednesday, November 18th.
